Tre Sanderson: Words really can’t explain how I felt when I won the Restaurants Canada culinary award of Excellence. To be recognized and nominated in this tough, competitive industry feels great and rewarding!
TS: My work has grown with more opportunities and new doors opening up for me—2023 has been one of the biggest years of my professional career. I’ve had the opportunity to mentor students but also inspire the next generation and pave the way for next and upcoming Black chefs.
TS: A nomination or win can help so much professionally; I strongly believe it’ll help build more self-confidence and build winners’ resumes! Being acknowledged in this competitive industry is hard enough! Win or lose, being nominated is a huge accomplishment.
TS: Other industry professionals should take the time to nominate because it shows appreciation to those in the hospitality industry and rewards an individual who is deserving and helps create the way for the future.
